Gergaud first visited the mission of Winnsboro in August 1859. Fr.

courthouse, and even won three converts for the Faith. Monday-Friday 8:00 am–12 noon

The civil community was established in 1811 as a center of trade, shipping, and commerce for the plantation system that flourished in the community during the antebellum period.
