MARCH 9-10: 24 HOURS FOR THE LORD. In the 2018 Lenten Message of His Holiness Pope Francis it states: “In each diocese, at least one church will remain open for 24 consecutive hours, offering an opportunity for both Eucharistic Adoration and Sacramental Confession.” This “24 Hours for the Lord” is to take place from Friday, March 9 until Saturday, March 10. Listed below are the churches that will be participating in the Diocese of Alexandria.
• St. Anthony of Padua in Natchitoches
Friday, March 9 at 8 a.m. - Saturday, March 10 at 8 a.m.
• Sacred Heart of Jesus in Pineville
Friday, March 9 at 3:30 p.m. - Saturday, March 10, 3:30 p.m. Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament and the availability of the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the church at 600 Lakeview St. in Pineville.
• St. Anthony of Padua in Bunkie
Friday, March 9 at 4 p.m. - Saturday, March 10 ending with 4 p.m. Mass Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place throughout the event until the 4:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday. Confessions will be available on Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon. The Rosary will be prayed every hour on the hour throughout the event.
• St. Frances Cabrini Church in Alexandria
Friday, March 9 at 6 p.m. - Saturday, March 10 at 6 p.m.
• St. Rita Church in Alexandria
Friday, March 9 at 8 a.m. - Friday, March 9 at 8 p.m., 8 a.m. Mass, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Church will be open for Adoration until 8 p.m., Confessions 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.,12 Noon Midday prayer and Chaplet of Divine Mercy, 12:30 – 2 p.m. Confessions, 2 p.m. Way of the Cross, 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m. Confessions, 5 p.m. Benediction, 5:30 p.m. Way of the Cross, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Confessions, 8 p.m. Reposition of Blessed Sacrament. Obviously we are not observing a full 24 hour period, but will encourage people to remain in fasting and prayer throughout the night.
