BISHOP TALLEY TO SPEAK AT MAGNIFICAT BRUNCH. Bishop Talley was raised as a Southern Baptist but has said he left the church as a teenager over the issue of racial segregation. At Auburn University he met Catholics and read the writings of Thomas Merton, which led him to become Catholic. Bishop David Talley will be sharing his story of conversion at the Magnificat Brunch in Avoyelles on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Rateau Center in Hessmer. The breakfast will be from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 12:30 pm. Tickets are $18 each.
