Timeless: Annual Bible Conference
will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. All catechists are encouraged to attend, as well as anyone desiring a deeper knowledge of Sacred Scripture. This 1-day conference will consist of engaging presentations on the Pentateuch (first five books of the Bible) and the Gospel of Matthew by Dr. Andrew Swafford, Senior Fellow at Scott Hahn's St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. The cost is $25 per person. Lunch is included. The day will end at 3pm with the option of staying to attend the 4pm Vigil Mass at the Cathedral.

CATECHETICAL QUIZ BOWL
The Catechetical Quiz Bowl will be held on Saturday morning, April 9, 2016 at MAryhill Renewal Center, 600 Maryhill Rd, Pineville. The quiz will consist of 250 questions from the Books of Exodus and Mark. A list of the questions and answers may be obtained from the Office of Religious Formation and Training at the Diocese Center by calling (318) 445-6424 ext. 251 or emailing email@example.com, so that students may begin studying.
A parish or school can have any number of teams. A team is made up of four members, 6th, 7th, and/or 8th grade students (any combination) from Catholic Schools and from parish CCD programs. There is a registration fee of $10 per team. Dress is casual.
First Prize is a cash award of $500 and a trophy. Second Prize is $200 and a trophy. Lunch will be provided.

WORKSHOPS FOR ALL CATECHISTS
The Office of Religious Education and Training is hosting A workshop on Basic Teaching Skills (this workshop was offered in 2013 & 2014) and
Workshops on the Teachings of the Catholic Church' for all catechists: A repeat of Year I is on Aug. 27, 2016. Also, two identical workshops on Year II on Sept. 3 & again on Sept. 17, 2016, from 8:30am to 3:00pm, in the large Conference room at the Diocese of Alexandria Office at 4400 Coliseum Blvd.-Hwy. 28 West. The purpose is to help Catechism teachers deepen their knowledge of their Catholic Faith.
The cost is $10, including lunch.

The workshops on the teachings of the Catholic Church will cover the following topics, going deeper every year for a total of five years: Church History, Sacred Scripture, Liturgy & the Sacraments, Prayer & Spirituality, and Moral Teachings of the Church.
The workshop on Basic Teaching Skills will cover: Calssroom Management, Effective Discipline, Lesson Planning, Teaching techniques for different ages, learning styles, and those with disabilities.
