Bankruptcy Proceedings Update
The Diocese of Alexandria continues to move forward through the Chapter 11 reorganization process. We remain committed to addressing this matter with transparency, fairness, and compassion for all those affected.
The deadline (commonly referred to as the “Bar Date”) for filing claims in the bankruptcy proceedings has now passed. With this milestone complete, the case now enters its next phase, which focuses on the development, negotiation and filing of a proposed Plan of Reorganization. This process includes working toward a resolution that addresses the claims filed while allowing the Diocese to continue its mission of proclaiming the Gospel, celebrating the sacraments, and serving the people of Central Louisiana.
The Diocese continues to engage in good-faith negotiations with the attorneys representing the plaintiffs, the insurance companies, and other parties in interest. These discussions are ongoing, complex, and are aimed at reaching a fair and equitable resolution for all parties involved.
The next scheduled hearing before the United States Bankruptcy Court is August 25, 2026. As appropriate, the Diocese will provide updates following significant developments in the proceedings.
